Budget friendly

Air Flow Research Enforcer series heads are composed of A356 aluminum and utilize the "as-cast" technology which provides extremely accurate and consistent performance on the intake runners, exhaust runners and combustion chambers. These budget friendly heads are offered for SBC, BBC, and LS1 as well as having the option for straight plug, or angle plug for specific applications. Fully assembled heads come with high quality components which are identical on the CNC ported heads, and also available bare (without parts). AFR heads require AFR stud girdles. Please keep the bar code and paperwork shipped with your heads, as they contain all the specs. SBC heads are ideal for operating below 6000 RPM. BBC heads are ideal for operating below 6500 RPM. LS1 heads are ideal for operating below 6300 RPM. Sold as a single piece, two are required per engine.

Notes

  • AFR strongly recommends using 7/16" rocker studs on SBC heads with todays fast cam rates and RPM capabilities.
  • SBC heads with 1.625" O.D springs will require some springs to be removed for access to some head bolts during installation.
  • SBC heads are designed for 5/16" .120" thick-wall pushrods, larger pushrods will not fit without clearancing. BBC heads are designed for 3/8" .120" thick-wall pushrods, larger pushrods will not fit without clearancing.
  • For ideal geometry and wipe pattern on BBC heads, AFR strongly recommends AFR stud mount rockers for applications below 7400 RPM and .790 lift. For applications above these limits shaft mount rockers are typically advised.
  • With some domed aftermarket pistons on BBC applications, it may be necessary to slightly clearance or modify the piston due to more efficient heart shaped combustion chamber designs. Most of the newer designed domed profiles will clear. AFR recommends material be removed from the piston and not the cylinder head. AFR's combustion chamber shapes are very critical to flow and altering the cylinder head can adversely affect flow and power production. It is the customers responsibility to verify proper piston to head clearance.
  • AFR LS1 heads do not have provisions for 1997-98 perimeter bolt valve covers.
  • GM rocker arms are not designed/engineered to accommodate aftermarket cams or higher spring pressures. At a minimum AFR recommends using the Bushing Trunnion Kit on their LS1 heads. Without proper parts you will experience accelerated guide wear.
